Not too much of a fan of KeePassXC's LLM policies, so if ChiPass works with that then I'll probably switch (it's a fork so should have equivalent functionality right?)

The new KeePassXC update is very cool! The KeePass ecosystem is what I prefer since it's all local, no server shenanigans (Syncthing can be used for shared password database between devices, even on iOS devices with Synctrain, though I daily drive Linux and Android!)

ChiPass is also neat as an alternative to KeePassXC (it is a community fork) if you don't like the latter's LLM policies, and you also have Secrets if you use GNOME (available on mobile Linux too, awesome!). Secrets is missing features though (no favicons and limited icons, not very customisable, no browser extension support)

About Linux kernel, not all of them share the opinion that LLMs are really helpful in every way. There is a talk about how they affect the kernel work on a daily basis, the first 35 minutes is the talk, rest questions and answers: https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?v=NnV_cWeoo5Q -> I don't want to know how much energy is only wasted for all these thousands of bug reports that are duplicated, already fixed, stolen from researchers that were using LLM chats and so on. How can Linus still make such a strong claims when it is clearly not that helpful? When patches even include human fails from 20 years ago, because the data is trained by the whole history of human mistakes, too?

Sad to hear about Bitwarden, but never used it. I always had the feeling this will happen. Even more sad about KeepassXC, because I used it and was happy, but never realized the vibecoding policy and I don't trust those who are not only using them on such important security applications, but especially that early. Was looking deeper into it and it seems there is an anti-AI fork called Chipass that forked the version before KeepassXC was introducing the new policy. I will look a bit deeper next days, but currently I am 80% sure to switch over to it. The browser integration for KeepassXC is not allowing LLMs and support Chi, so no issues at this front. Chi is hosted on Codeberg for those also want to give a look.

@thanius@peertube.chuggybumba.com I use llm's to find stuff or solutions for items where I am able to verify the output immediately (or with minimal effort). Example: last week I had a problem with my network interface. I prompted a (locally running) llm for the 'nmcli' commands which I hadn't used for years because I don't work as a sysadmin. The output was usable and saved me quite some 'manual-reading time'. I was able to verify the output because my internet connection was working again 😃
It is my opinion that you should limit the scope of llm's there. If you start to blindly accept the output of llm's (which happened on a big scale with the php2shell cve this week, for example) you're just using the wrong tool for the job. Accepting the output of an llm without verification is only acceptable if an incorrect output is acceptable.
The big problem with llm's is how you can abuse this technology. From a sociological point of view, it is the 'best tool ever for the (flaws in) meritocracy': it is a perfect tool to cheat your way up to a higher social class. And this is, in my opinion, the real problem. As long as llm's help people reach a better life standard by generating fake art/articles/cv's/programs/solutions to math problems/science it will be abused on the current massive scale. I have not found a solution for this problem, but I believe we should not discuss if 'ai' is good or bad ('ai' is just a subset of 'programs'. Some are useful, some are less useful) but ask 'where is, for example, an llm useful?' and learn each other to strictly limit the scope.
To make it more clear what the scope of an llm is, I would suggest to remove the word 'intelligence' because an llm has nothing to do with intelligence whatsoever (but it is a very good marketing buzzword because a user can feel himself implicitly intelligent by using this technology). The scientists who make the great podcast 'mystery ai-hype 3000' published a nice attempt: https://buttondown.com/maiht3k/archive/how-to-talk-about-ai-without-adding-to-the/. They replaced the word 'artificial intelligence' with 'probabilistic automation'. This sounds technically much more accurate, but obviously, any marketing team would rate this 0/10 😄
